Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, McCoy Piping Service is known in Central Ohio for being a fair, honest and dependable contractor. After exceeding customers' expections for more than 30 years, McCoy Piping Service has established itself as a professional, responsive and service oriented company.

McCoy Piping Services has decades of experience providing excavating services and has extensive utility experience as a licensed tapping contractor with the City of Columbus. McCoy Piping Services uses state-of-the-art equipment and is trained on the most current excavating, hot tap and line stop methods. Additionally, the company has one central equipment location which decreases mobilization charges.

In the 1950's, Fred W. McCoy, a former train repair technician, began excavating with his father-in-law's company, Fred Gibson Excavating. After gaining valuable experience from his father-in-law, in 1957, Fred began working alone as Fred W. McCoy Excavating.

Established as a family business, the company originated from a small metal building located on the McCoy family farm in Delaware, Ohio. Fred bought the company's first machine in 1959 (pictured). Putting in long hours, from dawn to dusk, Fred worked with utility companies and general contractors, to install sewer and waterlines, in and around Central Ohio.

A boom in commercial and industrial development occurred in the Columbus area in the early 1970's. Fred's son Craig joined McCoy Excavating, working part-time while taking business courses at Franklin University. Together, Fred and Craig moved the business to its current warehouse/office on Hosack Street in Columbus.

Due to health problems, Fred closed the business for one summer to recuperate. It was during that summer, while working for a local Columbus tapping contractor, that Craig recognized an opportunity to expand McCoy Excavating, Inc. to include pressure pipe tapping services. In 1985, Fred sold McCoy Excavating, Inc. to Craig. Fred worked along side Craig for four more years, training and sharing his engineering and consulting expertise. Fred passed away in 1994. Interested in further expanding the pressure pipe tapping business, Craig added hot tap and line stop services to McCoy's existing line of excavating services, in the 1990's.

Introducing McCoy Piping Services, a division of McCoy Excavating, Inc. The same experienced and dependable team of McCoy technicians now provide high-quality piping services.

"I have worked in and around this industry for more than 20 years. I have worked with Craig and his team for the last 5 years. They did a hot tap on a 12-inch and 14-inch chilled water riser for us...it was a very smooth operation."

-Craig Wooten,
Chief Engineer, Jones Lang LaSalle
