Q: What is hot tapping and what is involved?
A: Hot tapping or pressure tapping is the method of making a connection to existing piping or vessels while the existing system is under pressure. This method employs a drilling or tapping machine, a full-ported valve and a pressure-contained fitting attached to the existing pressurized system. Minimal water loss occurs utilizing this process.*


Q: What is line stopping and when is it used?
A: Line stopping is a means of stopping flow and providing a shut off where none exists. Line stopping can be used to isolate piping systems for repairs, alterations or relocations. Potential applications exist in all types of private and public utilities, process industries, institutions and cross-country pipelines. Minimal water loss occurs utilizing this process.*
